Arslan Sükan (Ankara, 1973) graduated from Bilkent University’s Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and obtained his photography training at New York’s School of Visual Arts. He continued to work as an architect in New York until 2008. He received “The Best Fine Art Contemporary Photography” award at the New York Photo Festival in 2009.
Sükan’s works have been exhibited locally and internationally in many prominent museums, galleries and events. The artist is currently working between New York and Istanbul.
Arslan Sükan is a multifaceted artist who is trained in interior architecture and photography, tackling with ideas that question the limitations of human perception, the borders between the physical and the virtual as well as the visible and the invisible. Sükan’s works position the artist as a challenging narrator who re-creates an idea or a form that confirm viewer expectations at first glance while undercutting them in practice.
