Born in Izmir (1995), Ece Ağırtmış graduated from Işılay Saygın Anatolian Fine Arts High School in 2013 and continued her studies at Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Graphic Design Depart- ment in Eskişehir. At school, she found the opportunity to work with various disciplines. Her interest in illustration grew even more during her studies. Colors and the ways of using them have always attracted her attention. She wanted to bring her illustrations into life by using wood as a medium. She had become experienced in using acrylic and other tools through experiment- ing with many toys/sculptures. Through layering her illustrations, Ece aims to provide a different perspective to the viewer.

She has participated in group exhibitions and projects both in Turkey and abroad. Currently, she is working on illustration, toy design, and other areas of her interest.

Ece Ağırtmış approaches life with the cartoons she watched in her childhood and their humorous side. And she reflects that in her work. She uses the solid form of wood by giving movement/dis- torting it, as in the cartoons/animations she watched. Wood as a material helps her to remind her of nostalgic toys.

The ironic things she watches and sees in daily life attract her attention, she reflects them on her works by handling them in a funny and quite colorful way.
