BIOGRAPHY

Ersoy Alap (1975, Ankara) graduated from METU Faculty of Architecture, Department of Industrial Design in 2001.

He worked in the fields of cinema, film production, photography and art history at METU GİSAM (Audio Visual Systems Research Center). At the same time, he worked on engravings in the design department studios. After his graduation, he worked as an assistant director in many important promotional films, including the Ministry of Culture ‘Türkiye Filmi’.

In 2005, he founded a visual arts and production company in Istanbul. He shot photographs and commercials for leading companies in the fashion and advertising industry (Cocacola, Vodafone, Microsoft, Yargıcı, Parkbravo, etc.) and magazines (Vogue, Elle, MarieClaire, Harper's Bazaar, etc.). In the same period, he tried experimental printing techniques with different materials. In addition to her experimental photography works based on abstraction, he continues his painting works in his studio in Datça.

'Culture' is important. The diversity of individuals is indispensable in terms of their creative power and communication with each other. The cultural values ​​of societies are being rasped, shallow and meaningless due to the negative effects of globalization. Most importantly, it becomes numb. My effort is to seek, understand and interpret the values ​​such as contradictions, effects and weaknesses of any cultural product that interests me with a specific and relevant aesthetic language.

From time to time, I study different subjects (botany, war, fashion, quantum mechanics, art, history, cinema, architecture, technology, metaphysics, brands, etc.). The topics I chose are related to the events around me at that time and my changing mood. The different interpretations and effects of each global reality in different cultures made me think. With the disappearance of borders, it has become very difficult and scary to understand the new world created by these differences. The anxiety of not being able to understand pushed me to get rid of my fears with pictorial expression. Now, new forms of those themes in my paintings that I could not understand gain a new meaning. Now they have a different framework. Abstraction opens up an unlimited space within the world of imagination. Every subject covered in this field finds a new emotion and meaning for itself.

My paintings are direct, harsh, and quite tiring. I collect images and texts related to the subjects I study, work, relate and arrive at a fiction. Then I try to reach a new meaning by abstracting this multi-layered image, pattern or surface. It is important to create a new plastic language in an abstract world and to be able to express new ideas that I can generate about the themes I am working on. I work on the subjects I study in series. In this way, we can think of a production as filing different titles under a particular topic. This format can also be called creating a kind of abstract archive.

RETURN

• Artwork that can’t be returned:

• All artwork that is framed specially for you.
• All  Sculpture and Ceramic works under the 3D category.
• All 4D artifacts such as video, GIF, and other digital work that is sent to you without a watermark.
• All digital installation work whose technical set up was specific to you and the location you requested.
• You can return the works that you bought at shopi go ART within 14 days of their delivery to you or the address of the person/institution that you had provided that they are undamaged.

• Returns should only be made with the return procedure determined by Shopi go ART. No other form of returns will be accepted.
