13.800,00 TL (+KDV)BIOGRAPHY
Having completed his master’s degree in Visual and Performance Arts at Paris-Sorbonne University, Can previously received Mixed Media and Collage training at institutions including Parsons School of Design at The New School, the School of Visual Arts, and theInternational Center of Photography. Through his work on acting and performance at institutions such as the Actors Studio and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, he sought ways to combine visual and plastic media. Currently, Can works with the United Nations and as an editor for VOGUE and GQ magazines. Thanks to thesepositions, he collects material for his collages during his travels around the world and continues to create collages on the concept of “reality” in different parts of the world.
He collects everything, from a piece of trash that he finds in the villages of Mexico, to the sand from the beach where Al Pacino and Demi Moore danced in Miami. He seeks a way to bring together different realities and energies from different worlds, and thus tries to explain the fundamental truth which, for him, is the complexity of life. The physical collection process that accompanies this mental collectingalso helps him express himself through plastic. Various materials from many different places become the materialthat he uses for artistic expression. One day he is in refugee camps; then, the next, he attends fashion shows for luxury fashion brands that cost millions of dollars for just 10 minutes. According to him, it is necessary to collect different data and materials from different stages of life to be able to create the truth. He believes that he can get closer to the fundamental truth – if there is one – by collecting different realities of different worlds. He uses his collages as action for advocacy and makes those who see his work witnesses and advocates. For him, the beauty of life comes from its undefinable and indescribable nature and, therefore, all of his work comes to life with different material and methods because there is not even a single rule, neither for life, nor for any of his works.
