Discovering his talent at an early age, David Doğan Levi (Istanbul, 1991) took his first painting class at Rönesans Sanat Atölyesi in 1996. During his high school years, his primary focus was on painting yet he was also interested in calligraphy, philosophy, Middle Eastern art, graphic design, street art, photography and architecture. The artist whose purpose was to establish a common ground to connect these disciplines, got education in Ayşegül Sürek’s studio for three years. In the following years, he moved to southern France, to the city of Montpellier to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Plastic Arts at Université Paul-Valéry.
During his university years, the artist did not only participate in multiple art events and group exhibitions, he also held exhibitions, art and philosophy conferences and organized museum tours. Moreover, the multidisciplinary artist organized happenings in Montpellier that focused on the sociological analysis of the city and neighborhood he lived in.
In 2013, he founded the design studio Lifeistco. With the idea of wearable art in mind, he carried out many projects on contemporary matters, environmental issues, sustainability and stray animals. Currently, David Doğan Levi works on his projects in his studio in Istanbul.
