FATİH ORUÇ

2D

Fatih Oruç (2002, İzmir) is an artist focused on sharpening their unique voice in the mediums of photography and film. Showing an interest for the visual arts since little, they have been writing and producing images with a serious attitude since 2016. In 2019, they realized their first short film “Masked”. In 2020, Fatih decided to commit completely to art and dropped out of university.
Fatih Oruç -working with tools both analogue and digital- goes hunting for images and then recontextualizes whatever they catch through composition, manipulation of light, color and time. The images they create are sometimes mesmerizing, but at others, they can get ugly- even horrifying. Their attraction to cinema has pushed them to create poetic images through photography. The artist uses the city to portray man and captures images spontaneously on the street which cause confusion between moment and fiction through the symmetrical structure they’re given. The nature of the work is open to question, so the photographs are meant to encourage the consumer to project.

2020, International Changing Perspectives Short Film Festival, Karma, Fitaş, Istanbul, Turkey
