BERİL GÜLCAN
2DBeril Gülcan (Istanbul, 1981) completed her education at the International Center of Photography in New York. Her photographs have taken part in art fairs such as Contemporary Istanbul, Fotofever Paris and Fotofever Arles; in solo exhibitions she has held in Istanbul and Brooklyn, and in group exhibitions she has participated in. After seven years of focusing on portrait photography, the artist, who Decamps between New York and Istanbul, now conveys human characters through painting and collage.
The artist, who is interested in portrait photography, attracts attention with her collages created by hand using acrylic paint. She is inspired by working with people, listening to their stories; he reflects their feelings, lifestyles, characters into her works. It is the artist's greatest passion to connect with these unorthodox but so peaceful, admirable characters and the environment in which they exist, to convey what they feel through his art, in the form of film and digital printing.
