PINAR BİRİM

2D

Pınar Birim (Istanbul, 1978) spent most of her childhood in the street and skateboard culture. While receiving her undergraduate education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, the artist was experimenting with screen printing and various printing techniques and designing the works and posters of her group. After completing her studies, her interest in art and design led her to London; the artist studied for a master's degree in Interactive Digital Media at Ravensbourne College. This training itself while creating her installations, she also encouraged experimental and creative experiments with technology.
Having lived in London for six years, Pınar Birim returned to Istanbul after collaborating with many artists and designers and taking part in various exhibitions. Here, she worked with domestic and foreign clients in agencies where she held the post of art director. As a result of her achievements, at the age of 29, she received the Young Artist of the Year Award from the Professional Organization of Graphic Designers.
The artist's works are the exact opposite of the styles that stand out in the design scene she has been in for many years. This contrast also reflects the way the artist deals with the country of her birth; conflict and chaos are always present. However, Istanbul, with its accidental beauties spread all over the Bosphorus, which brings together the continents of Europe and Asia, is an endless source of inspiration for the artist.
Pınar sees Unit art in a value much more than text; it expresses itself much better with pictures than in writing.
