Multidisciplinary artist Seray Asker was born in Istanbul in 1978. She has been living in Spain since 2015.

After completing her undergraduate education in Interior Architecture at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, she continued her studies in Plastic Arts at Utrecht Fine Arts University. The artist, who lived in Sweden for 10 years after the Netherlands, took part in personal and group exhibitions in different countries with her works created in various disciplines of art. During the same period, she studied at Uppsala University on her second area of interest, languages.

In Spain, where she moved to complete her Spanish linguistics education, she has focused on ceramics and mural works, as well as the art consultancy she has been doing for the last four years.

She took his art to Mexico with the "Ceramic Musical Instruments Design" scholarship she won in Oaxaca/Mexico in 2021 and, so to speak, brought clay to life with the ceramic musical instruments he created. The artist, who was deeply influenced by Mexican culture, reflected the influences of her culture in her rugs and mural works as well as ceramics. In the same year, she produced works in collaboration with local artists in her mobile workshop in Cappadocia.

Currently, in addition to mud house architecture practices in Mexico, she continues to take part as a participant and practitioner in events, exhibitions, symposiums and competitions related to ceramics, painting, sculpture and fibre art of contemporary art.

“The explanation is that there is no explanation.”

For artist Seray Asker, who explains that it is her manifesto to stand against every subject that is forced to be stereotyped and imposed, her works are the aesthetic reflections of the creative energy she allows to flow.

"We are all creators/artists. Even if you do not use any of the common disciplines of art as a means of expression, you are a creator. There is an energy within all of us that is struggling to manifest in physical form. Just tap that source of energy!"

Believing that art and creativity are inevitable actions, Seray Asker's ceramic works are characterized by intercultural permeability and primitive aesthetics.
