BIOGRAPHY

Buse Bilgişin (İstanbul, 1994), finished her BA in 2016 at the Chelsea College of Art & Design in London where she studied fine arts, she now resides back in İstanbul. Besides her profound interest in Art Therapy she also worked in the fashion and window display design.
When in the process of producing her works, Buse tells that she starts off finding her self clueless about what is yet to happen with the continuum yet feeling optimistic and enthusiastic about the process. That feeling is what keeps her going back into her studio every day. She describes her work as being extrapolative and filled with thought experiments; it deals with what cannot be said with words. She explains that her practice helps her develop a real sense of connection to her self and the world she’s surrounded by creating visual experiences through her work. She explains that finding what works together and what doesn’t work resembles the dream state we enter when we are sleeping. The dream self is like a grand architect combining and recombining ideas in a creative way. Each dream consists of its own ideas, emotions and complex symbols which are special to the dreamer and the occasional threshold in which their inner psychic state is held in. As Jung puts it, our dreams are not only connected to our own psyches but also to the collective consciousness/unconsciousness. She finds that like each dream, each artist with their work reflect a connection not only to their own psyche but also to the collective of the planet and the cosmos. Although there is importance put in to dreams, they cannot be completely recalled with words and remembrance. In a world where the principles of psychoanalysis is used for strategising for the politics of maintaining passive consumers; her interest lies with with the possibilities of developing a real sense of connection to ourselves through art and socially connecting with each other and to the social orders we live in in our histories.
