BIOGRAPHY

Oğulcan Kuş (Istanbul, 1993) moved to New York to study at Marymount Manhattan College and received his Bachelor of Arts in Creative Media and Studio Art in 2016. Kuş’s works vary in medium from acrylic, encaustic, sculpture, and film - combining postmodernist aesthetics with a bold awareness of his Turkish identity and American pop-culture. The artist currently lives and works in Istanbul.
Oğulcan Kuş paints to keep track of his experiences in the most simple and colorful way. Not only physical experiences but metaphysical ones as well like dreams or abstract thoughts. He is drawn to patterns, vibrant colors and curious, mysterious images that rise from the subconscious. These images could be a range of things like hands wearing white gloves making certain gestures, or more abstract things like a target or a certain group of colors. For the artist, all these ideas seem to be linked in the subconscious and through his practice he is connecting the dots between them.
