DENİZ TAŞAR
2DDeniz Taşar (1990, Istanbul) completed her undergraduate education at Yıldız Technical University, Department of Interactive Media Design. The musician and multidisciplinary artist, who has released two solo albums, a project album and many musical collaborations, won first place in Nardis, İKSV and Akbank Jazz Festival competitions. Taşar, who was selected as the 'Best Jazz Artist' at the 2023 Radio Boğaziçi Music Awards, opened her first personal art exhibition in Istanbul, "ESKİİZ / OldTrace", and also hosted visual works inspired by his music. Taşar, who performed at festivals throughout Turkey and abroad, especially in Istanbul, took part in international musical projects as a creator and executive, and her works were exhibited in China and Canada.
Taşar is nourished by transitions between genres and personal stories in her visual productions, as well as in her music; While using mud and paint as her main materials, she follows an instinctive and expressionist path. Organic forms that visualize the artist's stream of consciousness in her paintings transform into modern interpretations of primitive and raw objects in her ceramic works. Focusing on man's self-discovery and relationship with time in her versatile works, the artist's lyrics and music inspire her paintings, and the patterns she draws inspire her compositions.
